Peter Gabriel, Ferrari, and Pavarotti

Well the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics were awesome. Usually I think that stuff is lame, but i got into all the weird dancing stuff and fireworks. The part where a bunch of dancers formed a ski jumper was pretty cool. I also liked the dudes on rollerblades with fire shooting out of their heads. The cheesy disco music when all the athletes walked out was retarded though. Peter Gabriel singing John Lennon's "Imagine" was pretty good. At least Yoko didn't sing. The F1 car was delicious. I haven't watched F1 for a while, and I forgot how extremely loud they were. Pavarotti kicked ass. Here are some pics. Today is the men's 5000m in speed skating. American Chad Henrick is the favorite.

You did a good job summing up the highlights.

I wonder if I could get one of those flaming back packs for the Arrowhead next year? :)

Brooks you deserve a prize because you have real live people we dont know visiting and complimenting your blog. Nice work.

A flaming backpack would turn all the hardened snow into a slushy mess for the people behind you. That would work out very well...

Brooks,
You are missing out on the fine Canadian coverage on CBC.
The closest sport to cyclecross in the olympics has to be women's hockey. It has a small cult following, difficult sport, and a powerhouse in the form of Canada. Then you have to throw down the question in hockey, if the Canadian women play the Americans in the gold medal round who would win?

I sadly miss the CBC olympics coverage. Why does the single Canadian channel have more/better coverage then all the NBC channels combined?

The Olympics may of had Pavarotti perform but the NBA All-Star Saturday Night Events has Andrea Bocelli perform. Bocelli > Pavarotti
